Book Excerpt # 5 "Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Let’s go fly some kites! We will attach prayers to soar them into God’s loving presence. Once entrusted to him, we will await his perfect timing to respond.

Lord, there is a time for everything under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3). Thank you that in my season of great need, a true friend came bringing hope, love, and new ways to sing and pray. Amen.

Book Excerpt # 4 "Promises, Promises"

“In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly” (Psalm 5: 3).

I desire to be his devoted follower. Even when I falter, He never does. His love never fails nor do his promises.

God is honing my unconditional love for him as He fulfills his promises. He’d rather I focus on this than on my feelings or understanding of how He will bring fulfillment. With my trust and faith in him, we share confidently on the road to his revelations. I have made a promise to follow him, no matter the cost.

Indeed, both of us are promise keepers!

Book Excerpt # 3 "Looking at the Glass, Lightly"

Lord, every day I see glimpses of beauty amidst the more marred parts of your created world. Help me recognize your touch, especially in my life events that are hard to understand. Knowing you understand can bring me a peaceful contentment. Amen.

Photos from Lynn's Book Launch Party for "Seeking the Light of God's Comforter"!!!

On February 12, 2017, my CPA, Bill Brady, gave me a Book Launch Party at Seattle's College Club on Lake Union. It was a sunny day with a view from the deck of the Seattle skyline.

My cousin, Tom Heins, a professional photographer, graciously offered to take photos of the event.

Having combed through 132 photos, here are the ones that best represent the day - a milestone day in my life, for sure.

To all who prayed me to this event, many thank yous. To those who helped set up the room and keep the event moving along, abundant thanks, as well. Enjoy this virtual tour of the day.

To enlarge the photos, just click on them once as I can only size them to fit in this smaller space!

Entryway as guests entered the venue room, framed photos that are featured in the devotional book.

First Steps: signing guest book, getting a name tag, signing a raffle ticket, rejoicing and being glad in the day!

Centerpieces on table to mirror the colors in the book's cover photo: a sunrise on the Sea of Galilee.

Venue photo boards shared the journey of my getting some of the photos for the book: this is the Skagit Valley in Washington state.

This venue board is a tribute to Tim Hansel, to whom my book is dedicated.

Ah - great memories from 2001 and 2002 when I was able to be in Oxford and Cambridge. A number of photos in the devotional book are from those travels, including a study week in C.S. Lewis' home.

With my  cousins: Teri and her brother, Tom Heins who also was the photographer for the Book Launch!!

With our host, Bill Brady, long time friend and my CPA who certainly gave the gift of a wonderful day!

Various special groupings of friends!

Graham brought the special prayer focus for the day. With holy oil from Israel, he anointed the palm of my right hand (my writing hand) by forming the sign of the Cross on it.

Next, he asked I place the anointed hand on my book as he prayed the book out to those who would find comfort and encouragement from the Holy Spirit when reading it.

All gathered were asked to extend their hands to join in the prayer.

Time at the podium to thank those in attendance, introduce Bill Brady, and share in the joys of the day.

The oil painting on the mantle is one done by my mother, Maggie. It is used to begin the book's  Introduction Section THREE of devotionals.

Signing books for friends . . what fun!!

A joyous hug from my step-sis, Nina, who came from southern CA to attend the celebration!

. . .with Sonia Evans - a joy in my life since she was in my first grade class 41 years ago!

Book Excerpt # 1 "Travel Accessories"

“I believe strongly that, as Christians, each of us is traveling on the same road, gifted with various talents, yet wearing different shoes. God determines the kind of footwear He hands us for use at various times of our journey. We decide whether to accept or reject our shoes.

They come laced with his grace for the job at hand. They come soled with his promise to travel with us as He knows the way He has ordained we should go. Others’ footwear may look more chic but, in his eyes, we can be right in step with what He wants.”
