(NKJV)
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
“Lynn’s Psalm 23 to the Lord”
YOU are my shepherd.
YOU are my refreshing green pastures.
YOU are my still waters
YOU restore my soul.
YOU lead me on your right path.
With YOU, I need fear no evil that lurks about.
YOU defend and comfort me.
With YOU I can dismiss the enemy.
Our relationship is a banquet where we celebrate “us”.
Your Presence is anointing oil softening my worries from head to toes.
YOU fill me to overflowing with the goodness that is You.
YOU restore my past afflictions with the gift of your forgiveness.
YOU are goodness. YOU are mercy. YOU surround me with your Light.
YOU are my dwelling place - before time, during time, and into eternity.
Isaiah 30:15b
“. . .in quietness and in trust shall be [my] strength.”

This blog posting came forth from my personal devotional time Sunday morning ( July 19 ) as I journaled though the meditation for this week-ends Pray-As-You-Go study. PAYG is an amazing resource - more often used by those "on the go" but there are ways to use it in more reflective ways and I have been journalling what I meditate via it now for nearly 2 years.

This is beautiful, Lynn. Psalm 23 is one of my very favorite chapters in the Bible. Your rendition is meaningful to me too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lisa.
DeleteAs I shared in "my comment", it just came flowing out of me and I felt a nudge to post it here on my "neglected blog"!
Knowing it blessed you helps me feel glad that I did!

I love your beautiful personal reflection on this well-known Psalm Lynn and am grateful you did share it here.
ReplyDeleteThat He is "anointing oil softening my worries" is a comfort in the midst of whatever we are facing and I see how appropriate for you today. Praying for you.
Blessings,
Fiona
Thank you, Fiona - I loved how quickly God poured this prayer response into and then out of me.
DeleteHe IS our comfort which may not necessarily mean we "feel comfortable" but what a difference to have Him with us in all our circumstances.
Appreciating you and your prayers for me!
Love, Lynn
Sis, I loved ALL of this; my favorite line might be "Our relationship is a banquet where we celebrate “us”." The Divine Romance!! <3
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and commenting, Sis.
DeleteThis one flowed to bless me and then I just had to share.
It is great when someone who reads our words gets an extra boost by seeing a phrase that hits their heart in a special way - such a nice connection to have!
Love,
Lynn
Beautiful Lynn :-)
